Saturday’s game between Clemson and Georgia Southern is the latest game to be affected by the impact of Hurricane Florence as the storm prepares to hit the U.S. coast this weekend. The Eagles secured their second win of the season, defeating UMass 34-13 over the weekend. Georgia Southern is one of only two teams in the Sun Belt to be undefeated heading into Week 3 of the college football season. Clemson survived a scare against the Aggies, winning by two points Saturday night.

The Tigers shouldn’t have much of a problem with this easy-scheduled game at home against Georgia Southern.  Georgia Southern has gotten off to a very nice start, especially with the way quarterback Shai Werts has played. The Eagles want to run the ball, while Clemson has a terrific front seven, so it’s going to be tough sledding for the Georgia Southern offensive attack. The Eagles should try to throw on Clemson after Texas A&M’s performance through the air Saturday night.

The Eagles defense looked good against UMass, allowing 13 points. Benz Josue had an interception in the win. Georgia Southern didn’t get a sack, which was interesting, in Saturday’s win. The Eagles have the impossible task of slowing down Clemson’s offensive attack. Georgia Southern only had three quarterback hurries and one tackle for loss. It might be a long day for a Georgia Southern defense.

Clemson’s defense was gashed by the Aggies quarterback play Saturday night. Kellen Mond threw for over 400 yards and three scores as the Tigers secondary wasn’t up for the challenge. The Tigers were able to get four sacks in the narrow win, and they should be able to dominate the line of scrimmage against the Eagles. Georgia Southern’s Shai Werts has a real dual threat ability. The Eagles want to run the ball, which bodes well for the Tigers, because their front seven is one of the best in college football.

Clemson’s Kelly Bryant rushed for 54 yards and a scored to go along with a passing touchdown over Texas A&M. The Tigers freshman Trevor Lawrence threw a touchdown to Tee Higgins as Higgins made such a sensational play for a 64-yard score. The two-quarterback approach for the Tigers has worked well so far. Bryant gives them this tremendous value with his legs, while Lawrence has big-play ability with his passing. Clemson’s offense shouldn’t have much of a problem scoring against Georgia Southern. It might be a big running game for Clemson.
